Clara made Hamentaschen for Purim today with her grandma (who was visiting for the weekend)

It was fun looking back at last year’s Purim photos of Clara eating hamentaschen back then!

Hosted a big Thanksgiving for 13 (5 family houseguests plus 5 friends and the three of us) at our new house.

Had a great time cooking, eating, watching TV, playing poker and generally just hanging around playing and eating some more.

Clara’s 3rd Halloween — and she definitely got the concept this year (she even practiced trick-or-treating on our door yesterday). We went to the big downtown safe trick-or-treat extravaganza/mob scene and then tried out the other houses on our new street — only one of which had even bought any candy since apparently no one ever comes trick-or-treating there (one of the others gave us a persimmon, and the third with people home gave us a full-size candy bar out of their freezer.) Then we went up to Lisa’s (and probably was one of their only trick-or-treaters for the night there too.) Last weekend Clara went to a Halloween party and yesterday was the parade at daycare and a party at the Little Gym, so I think she definitely has had a full Halloween experience.

Here’s our little construction family — appropriate, we thought, after all the house renovations we’ve been doing!

Clara seemed to enjoy the hamentaschen we made and wore the bunny ears her Safta sent her for about 2 seconds.  Next year she should be ready for a real Purim carnival and costumes and everything.

I finally managed to post the video from the Halloween Parade at Clara’s daycare that they had on Friday!  She was at the very front, riding in the buggy with three of her friends:

Another month milestone has rushed by! Clara is 11 months old today! We’re still pretty focused on food — she loves pretty much everything she tries herself (but even at daycare won’t let them feed her anything, she’s only interested in eating independently.) She can demand more food with a sound that sounds like “nu nu nu.” Still no teeth (though Karen says they’re overrated anyway.) She can crawl super fast and stand on her own for quite a while. She’s been taking small steps towards us — 2 usually before crashing, but is super-excited about it and clearly wants to be more mobile as soon as she can work it out. She’s due for a hair cut but we haven’t gotten around to it yet. She’s enjoying Little Gym classes on Saturday mornings (storytime at the library is on a couple of week break, but she was loving that as well.)

We’re getting ready to go on vacation tomorrow and spend some time letting her play with grandparents, uncle and aunts, cousin and assorted others friends and family, so there will be many more cute pictures coming soon.

Happy grandparents day today (apparently it is always the Sunday after labor day weekend)

For Clara’s 7 grandparents, its their first grandparents day! So an extra special happy Grandparents Day to all of them!

10 Month Sheep Photo

Clara turned 10 months old today! This month just zipped by — each one seems to and before we know it it is time to take another photo with the ever-shrinking sheep. It is getting much harder to convince her to sit still and pose with the sheep — she was crawling all over and not very interested in looking at the camera, but its always fun to try to get a few shots to show how much she has changed.

This past month has all been about food — especially after the doctor told us last month that she should be eating more “real” food by now. Well, she was apparently listening because soon after she decided she wouldn’t eat another bite of baby food and is completely into all the food the other kids at daycare eat. If you keep up with my flickr photos, you know that her favorite foods are currently string cheese and grapes, but that she does very well with peas and carrots, spaghetti, and watermelon. It is great fun watching her try out new foods — she’s liked almost everything she’s tried so far and pretty much insists that she eats it herself without any help. I’m constantly amazed — especially because she hasn’t had any teeth emerge yet!

She’s also experimenting with standing up on her own – she can go a few seconds (looking very proud of herself) before sitting back down. Holding onto our fingers she can really run around now as well! She “talks” up a storm as well — her most recognizable one being a form of “row row” to get someone to sing Row, Row, Row Your Boat, apparently a favorite at daycare.
