on:Had a week off from work so we all went to Westport for a few days to see family and friends. Clara had a fantastic time and I took a million photos of her playing with her cousin, her grandparents, 2 uncles, 3 aunts, a great-great aunt and some good friends. We went to the beach, Stepping Stones children museum, the Maritime Center (aquarium), out on a boat, and did a lot of back yard playing.
Here are a couple of my favorite photos from the trip:
Holiday Weekend

I took Friday off of work and made this a wonderful 4 day weekend. Mom was out visiting for a few days so we played on Friday and took Clara to get her haircut. She had to go home Saturday morning and S had to work, so Clara and I had a nice day just the two of us on Saturday (Little Gym, Storytime, a couple of trips to the hardware store, a nap, some painting, and a visit to Booksmart and a little of Mushroom Mardigras.) On Sunday, we cleaned up the house (as best we could) and made cupcakes in anticipation of an exciting visit from Heather, Jared and Ilsa. It was Ilsa’s second birthday and our first chance to meet her. The girls got along quite well and it was wonderful to see everyone. We hung out, went through Mushroom Mardigras, checked out the house we’re attempting to buy, played at Nordstrom Park, had dinner at VietAsia (our favorite local restaurant and one that tolerates toddlers quite well), and hung out some more until bedtime reading stories and playing with musical instruments and things. Monday we all went for a small hike at Uvas Canyon where we saw a million ladybugs (so many that it was a bit creepy to see them all swarming around), had lunch, a nap (well, some people napped anyway) and played some more. A really nice, relaxing fun holiday weekend!
Congratulations Eduard!

After putting it off as long as we could, we finally took Clara to get her first haircut (it was so long in the front that it was starting to get into her mouth all the time). I’d seen the sign for a kid’s haircut place in town — Mouse Mania — and it got great reviews online, so we gave it a try. From the second we walked in, she pretty much freaked out, but they were really wonderful with her and I think it turned out well (despite the screaming).
They even gave me a little certificate of baby’s first haircut with a sample of her little curls.
