Grandpa’s 90th Birthday Party

Posted by: Emily on: September 13, 2003

party.jpgToday is my grandfather’s 90th birthday party so we had a huge party at the new Ralph and Betty Sheffer Hall (named after him and my grandmother) at the Westport History Center. The party was also to celebrate Brian and Karen’s (pictured here with Grandpa) engagement (the wedding’s next month!)

Brian and Karen opened some presents beforehand — here they’re getting a first edition of Make Way For Ducklings (they also got a Mini!!)

Nice job! I think everyone had a wonderful time! I know Jim and I did. The food was delicious and everyone was so friendly.

Emily – Great job at the party. I truly believe that you could have sold 20 digital cameras and printers. I felt like I was at a trade show without the samples for sale. A lot of grandpas generation were impressed about the simplicity and ease of the system instead of having a computer with connections, software, printers and printer software, etc, etc, etc. . . . .

Great to see you. We need to hire you to come and clean up our computer mess here. Would you get together a list of equipment and we could see about purchasing that before your arrival.

Lots of Love, Doug, Barbi and Brooke

Emily – the pictures are great! We had a wonderful time…and poor John because I know I want that printer for my anniversary present! See you in a couple of weeks!

Love, Cheryl & the Eggs

I saw a story on the party online — I think it was westportnow.com. Just curious about one thing — when did Betty and Eduard get that big?

Great pictures. I’m sorry I missed it. I am soooooo looking forward to the big day in October. See you soon, love Constance

oh my God, i cant believe its your family emily. emily its Ruth here my partner ( at the time) Moss and i worked for your mum at your home in Westport back in 1990 for 6 months or so. Betty was about 3 and Eduard was 18 months. you all look so well and happy, i am absolutly delighted to see your grandfather looking so good, moss and i were truely taken by him, a true gentleman. i have since found other web pages with your family on and delighted to see your mum so happy. Sadly Moss and I are no longer together we did marry but i think we were just a little to different for a lifetime together. I have since remarried Paul who is an Animator and we have a wonderful , if not slightly boisterous little boy 18 months old called Noah. he is a joy . .
I am now lecturing at the University of Bolton in art and design history, well i have been for 14 years actually, im head of department here. i do love my job, most days anyway. please do send my warmest wishes to all your family, you were sweet sixteen when we left your house a. i hope you are having a wonderful life. love and best wishes Ruthx
